Ivan & Cherie's visit...day 1 of sightseeing

Posted by Picasa

Our friends Ivan & Cherie from New Zealand came to the States for a month long holiday. They spent the first 10 days in California at Disneyland & Knotts Berry Farm as well as surrounding area tourist spots. Then it was to Oregon to spend the next 10 days with us. It was just like we saw them yesterday, not 4 years ago. We would have a packed schedule each day trying to get in all that we wanted to show them. After leaving us they headed off to Hawaii for 7 days of sun before returning to their cold winter weather. We are so blessed to have such wonderful people in our life. It is wonderful for Caitlyn to know who they are now - more then just a name we tell her about. Here 3 months later she still talks about them almost every day. We can't wait until we go visit them again in beautiful New Zealand.

The collage will become full size.

A visit to see newborn Tehya.

On our way home from the Childrens Museum we stopped by the hospital to see day old Tehya and mommy Lacey & daddy Tony. I was lucky enough to stop by the night before after work just in time to see and photograph Tehya's first bath with daddy and the nurse while Lacey rested a bit. Caitlyn was very facinated with finally getting to see baby Tehya. Once the greeting was over she was ready to chill out a snack and watch some cartoons while I visited with Lacey.

Caitlyn has a blast playing in the "dirt" as she calls it. She LOVES tractors so the rubber pit is a hit with her. And yes she dumped the shovel load on her head on purpose.

We discovered Max the Train (as we have to call it, to not get confused with Max the cat) in a back room after playing in the clay room . Caitlyn was overjoyed to get to drive Max the Train.

Shopping and pushing a cart is always a battle with the real deal...she loves to get to push a cart her own size as well as be the clerk.

We couldn't find the mallets but she did just fine with her hands. It was still fun to her.

After the story time was over (which we didn't get to listen too because we had to sit still) and all the other kids went elsewhere it was time to climb and play in the tree.

A day in the country...(Part 4)

At the end of the day it is time to put out some feed for the deer.

A day in the country...(Part 3)

It took some convincing to actually get Caitlyn on Little Bit. She finally agreed she "needed" to let Little Bit take her for a walk since she took him for a walk. It Worked!!

A day in the country... (Part 2)

We tried to convince Caitlyn there is no free ride in the country with animals to take care of... so she helped brush Little Bit (for about a minute) and helped feed all three horses. She was right at home and looked the part in her overalls and frog boots.

A day in the country... (Part 1)(5-25-08)

We spent the day at Uncle Brad & Aunt Patty's in the country. Caitlyn got to see the new chickens they had just gotten as well as help out with "Caitlyn's" pony, Little Bit. Aunt Patty calls it Caitlyn's pony since she is the only one that can ride him. We also managed to catch a frog at the pond to look at a while in the bug box A.Patty gave Caitlyn.

Trent's 14th Birthday

We celebrated Trent's 14th birthday with a great BBQ at Jim & Patti's.

GABA 5-17-08

As usual I helped the Cadets on one of our largest fundraisers (selling dogs & drinks) of the year. This frees Mike up to float around making sure the safety booth and bike helmet fitting is going smoothly.
The Gateway Area Business Association puts on a summer Parade and Fair each May. The past few years Caitlyn has stayed with G & G during the morning then heads over to enjoy the fun too later in the afternoon.

This year Caitlyn got to pose with the Rose Festival Princess Court; one of PPB's K9 officers (and his handler) as well as the one and only Ronald McDonald.
This year was a scorcher with temperature near 100 degrees. We sold lots of beverages this time.

Mother's Day

Both Mike & I worked this day. We did manage to meet Mike for dinner after I got off work. Grandma & Grandpa came too. After Mike headed back to work the rest of us went to the house so Grandma could open her present.

IceCream on a Hot Day!

Caitlyn is always willing to share, even with Monty.
The clean up was just as much fun as getting messy.
